eCrt (Effort Certification)
is Harvard University’s web-based time and effort reporting system. Please go to the Office for Sponsored Programs/Effort Reporting web page for important dates on the current Period of Performance certifications.
An instructor-led Effort Reporting Basics class is available through the Center for Workplace Development (CWD). Register through PeopleSoft.

IACUC (Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee) - e-IACUC is the electronic submission of protocols
Submission Instructions for Animal Protocols and Amendments
- For New protocols and 3-Year Renewals
- Input all information to the new e-IACUC form online (HMS Quad-Based Investigators ONLY)
- For Amendment
- Until you have completed your new or 3-year renewal in e-IACUC, all amendments should be completed on paper
For Annual Renewals (USDA covered species only)
- Until you have completed your new or 3-year renewal in e-IACUC, all annual renewals should be completed on the paper form
- Annual renewals are not required for protocols using non-USDA covered species
ESTR is the Electronic Submission Tracking & Reporting system for Harvard Institutional Review Boards (IRBs). This system:
- Automates the IRB submission and review processes;
- Is a place to store and access submission documents and meeting documentation; and
- Allows for easier reporting for business process and regulatory purposes.
GMAS (Grant Management Application Suite)
GMAS (Grants Management Applications Suite) – A university-wide, web-based system for managing sponsored funding. GMAS is used to maintain proposal, award and subcontract data, activate accounts and monitor spending and approvals. It is also an online repository for storing grant-related documents. HCOM (Harvard Crimson Online Marketplace)
Harvard Crimson Online Marketplace ( HCOM ) is a comprehensive procure-to-pay solution where users request, approve and receive goods and services.
HCOM Shopper/Approver class – How to use HCOM as a shopper or approver. Attendees must have log-in ability to HCOM and an understanding of Harvard’s Chart of Accounts structure. Go to the Harvard Training Portal to register for a class.
The Oracle Business Intelligence (OBI) Enterprise Edition is a comprehensive set of enterprise business intelligence tools and infrastructure which includes: a scalable and efficient query and analysis server, an ad-hoc query and analysis tool, interactive dashboards, proactive intelligence and alerts and an enterprise reporting engine.
The OBI login link is found on the Financial Systems Solutions Applications page, under Reporting Applications. You will need your Harvard Key.
OBI is replacing the CREW (Common Reporting Environment for the Warehouse financial reporting application. The CREW login link is also found on the Financial Systems Solutions Applications page, under Reporting Applications. CREW is currently used for Financial Reporting, specifically the Detailed Listing Reports (DLR). Information provided in the Detailed Listing Reports will be moved to the OBI platform.
There are several OBI online training offerings available on the Harvard Training Portal. As new OBI dashboards become available, live classroom training is offered to current systems users. Please find the current OBI classroom training sessions on the Events Calendar.
WASABI – A Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health custom application designed for detailed budgeting of sponsored accounts, journal transactions and creation and approval of payroll actions.
The Wasabi Basics class is required for all new SPH Wasabi users. Wasabi Hands-on Lab sessions demonstrating features of Wasabi modules. Register on the OFS Internal Website Wasabi Training Events page.
