G-2-P transition - when will it begin?

  1. NIH began transitioning awards receiving new document numbers (Types 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, and 9) effective October 1, 2013.  Because these awards were already receiving a new document number, there is/was no need for a change in process related to award account set-up.
  2. As of October 1, 2015, NIH will begin issuing competitive revisions/administrative supplements (Type 3s) in a P subaccount, even if the parent award is still in a pooled G account.
  3. As of October 1, 2015, NIH will begin transitioning non-competing awards (Type 5s and 8s) at the time the noncompeting award is funded.  For example, if the anniversary date of an award is January 1 and the award is still currently in a pooled G account, the noncompeting budget period beginning January 1, 2016 will be transitioned to a P subaccount.
  4. See the NIH Guide Notice on Revised Timeline for Administrative Changes to NIH Domestic Awards to Transition to Payment Management System Subaccounts for more information from NIH on this timeline.
