SRA International (Society of Research Administrators) will present a live webinar addressing how Lean was implemented in research administration at the University of Copenhagen. Hosted by Lean@HMS and the HMS Office of Research Administration & Operations, all are welcome to attend this event. Whether you've been trained through HMS about Lean principles or would like to learn what it is and how the principles of continuous improvement are applied in the workplace, you are encouraged to register.
According to presenter Tina Lewis, MBA, Head of the Office of Research and Innovation, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, Lean spans a period of six years and there are no quick fixes. It takes time and focus to change an organization and introduce a culture of continuous improvement, efficiency, and service. The Office and Research and Innovation, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen encompasses the administration of the Graduate School (1,600 students) and faculty stipends; research support that includes external funding initiatives, as well as activities pertaining to data management, responsible conduct of research, research assessment and research management information. Thirty-two staff members work in the office and it's part of the faculty wide administration (350 employees).The context of their work is similar to that of many public sector organizations..."producing more for less and at a higher quality." The webinar will look at the evolution of Lean principles. Learning objectives include: considering aspects of leadership related to the principles of Lean, looking at a case study and discussing the potential of implementing Lean.
